 此前，當微軟宣布Windows 7會有六個版本時，相信多數(shù)人都情不自禁地抖了一下。大多數(shù)人連Vista的版本還沒理清，又要陷入Windows 7版本的迷惑中去了。但是微軟對此卻很有信心， 因為有Netbooks。

由于Windows 7在內核上作出了改進，對硬件需求遠比Vista要低，也就是說，現(xiàn)在正在運行Windows XP的機器都能流暢運行Windows 7，至少Windows 7 Starter版本可以。但是，由于Starter版本只能運行三個程序的限制，微軟預計會有不少Netbooks用戶會升級到Windows 7 Home Basic或Home Premium。

目前，HP已經確認會在其Netbooks上預裝Windows 7，而且Windows 7 Beta在SONY VAIO P上運行相當流暢。不過到底Windows 7 Starter版本能否促使用戶升級到Home Basic，而不是Linux還需要時間來證明。
