 在Vista中，微軟引起了邊欄這個全新的環(huán)境以運行一些小程序，而這些程序就被成為邊欄小工具。在Windows 7中，這些小工具依然以桌面小工具的形式存在，但邊欄已經(jīng)被移除了。比較有趣的是，在Vista中，用戶既可以在邊欄中使用小工具，也可以將小工具拖到桌面上，而在Windows 7中，小工具只能出現(xiàn)在桌面上。

跟Vista下一樣，Windows 7中的桌面小工具主要是采用動態(tài)HTML，java，CSS和XML來開發(fā)的。而微軟到目前為止并未更新Windows 7的小工具庫。通過WIN+G，可以呼出小工具。

與Vista相比的改進：

*邊欄消失了   -  確切的說，是被隱藏了。因為事實上，它還在后臺運行。
*不會自動運行 - 在Vista中比較煩人的一件事就是邊欄會默認隨機啟動，減緩了本來就不快的開機速度。而在Windows 7中，邊欄不會在系統(tǒng)安裝后自動運行，保持了系統(tǒng)的簡潔。
*可觸控 - Windows 7中的小工具全部添加了觸摸支持，而當用戶觸摸時，小工具會放大以適應手指大小
*離線支持 - 與Vista下不同的是，像天氣、股票這樣必須聯(lián)網(wǎng)才能正常工作的小工具在Windows 7下支持離線顯示
*大小可調 - 在Vista下，將邊欄小工具拖到桌面上時會自動放大；而在WIndows 7中，用戶可以自行調整小工具大小。
*高DPI支持 - 雖然還不完善，但Windows 7中的小工具可以針對DPI的變化自行調整。
*顯示桌面時依然可見 - 在Vista下，當用戶點擊顯示桌面后，所有小工具也會最小化。而在WIndows 7中，則不會。
*磁性邊緣 - 在Windows 7下，當用戶將小工具在排成一排時，小工具之間還是會保持一定的距離，不會粘在一起。
沒有記事本工具了 - 微軟移除了記事本小工具，取而代之的是新任務欄中一個名為便箋的組件，跟記事本有著類似的功能

Windows 7中的小工具主要有：

日歷、時鐘、CPU儀表、貨幣、標題、媒體中心、拼圖、天氣、股票

PS:在Windows 7中，同一工具的不同版本可同時顯示。

總結

看起來與其前任相比、Windows 7中的小工具都有了一定的改進，顯然深思熟慮后小工具這個功能已經(jīng)趨于完善了。只不過在Vista下時，邊欄就幾乎被忽略了，而在Windows 7中，我想也不會紅火。

But the container environment, Windows Sidebar, is no longer provided.

Fun fact: Remember, in Windows Vista, gadgets could appear in either the Windows Sidebar or directly on the desktop. However, in each case, the Sidebar had to be running in order for the gadgets to appear. In Windows 7, you can only access Windows Gadgets directly on the surface of the desktop.
